Kosciusko REMC plans to install Gridstream RF mesh network technology, E350 FOCUS AX-SD residential meters and E650 S4e commercial meters to all of its member customers over an 18-month period beginning early next year.
Other programs the utility is considering are prepaid metering and home area networking, and the residential meters Kosciusko REMC is installing include integrated remote service switches and ZigBee communications for home area network applications.
Kosciusko REMC president and CEO Steve Rhodes said Gridstream will provide access to information and the ability to remotely manage the company’s distribution system in ways that will help enhance customer service, lower costs and improve overall efficiency.
"The installation of meters and network will provide Kosciusko REMC benefit from improved outage notification, confirmed operation of load management devices, and access to metering data through an online portal," Rhodes said.
Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream RF network technology provides an intelligent communication link across the distribution network.
Kosciusko REMC is a cooperative electric utility based in Warsaw, Indiana.
