The scope of the contract is to supply, deliver and commission 67 Siemens SWT-2.3-101 turbines and also includes a three-year service and maintenance agreement.
The turbines for the project will be manufactured at Siemens’ plant in Tillsonburg, Ontario, where as towers and steel for the turbines will be sourced from CS Wind in Windsor and Essar in Sault Ste. Marie.
Siemens Canada vice president wind power Jacob Andersen said that the company is proud to be a partner in the Grand Renewable Wind project as it represents a significant contribution of the Green Energy Act and Green Energy Investment Agreement to establishing and maintaining a green collar manufacturing and service economy in the Province of Ontario.
In January 2014, delivery of the blades will start and commercial operation of the park is expected to begin in the year.
