The company plans to complete the final testing at the site to start series production for the UK market, as well as for international markets.

The 6MW turbine, which is of SWT-6.0-154 type with 154 meter rotor diameter provides cutting-edge direct drive technology.

In the beginning of the year, the company has also installed two 6MWs turbines at the Gunfleet to carry out the first offshore testing, which is operated by Dong Energy.

Siemens Wind Power EMEA business unit CEO Jan Kjaersgaard said the company is proud to install the serial version of 6-MW wind turbine in Hunterston.

"The United Kingdom is backing our technology in a particular way. That’s why we are seeking to collaborate with the country’s power suppliers right from the product development stage through to commissioning," Kjaersgaard added.
