The new solution targets small to mid-size utilities, and companies seeking to accommodate existing automatic meter reading systems and monthly reads.

It can be accessed from the cloud directly through Siemens or via strategic partners as a managed service with subscription-based pricing on a per-meter, per-month basis.

The solution also helps utilities assess and prepare operations to address the existing and future challenges of efficient grid operation.

eMeter CTO Larsh Johnson said that the company’s new offering makes it easy for anyone to take advantage of being application ready.

"By utilizing the nimble yet scalable EnergyIP offering, as well as the expertise of a grid giant like Siemens, we are aggressively pricing our offering for customers of all sizes and types to utilize the best of the best," Johnson added.

The new solution is especially beneficial for small and mid-size utilities because it creates a low risk, high reward mechanism for entry through elimination of requirement for purchase or maintenance of the software and hardware for data storage, or hiring of IT experts to run the application.

The company said that its EnergyIP platform provides real-time information and automation to integrate enterprise systems, drives management of the smart grid, and mines customer data for key customer trends around billing and energy usage.
