The offers have been made to the French energy regulator, Commission de Regulation de l’Energie, and the consortium hopes to secure two of the five zones offered in the first phase.
The French government is expected to make a decision in April 2012, with the first wind farms expected to be commissioned in 2015.
Iberdrola said the wind farms that the consortium hopes to install off the French coast will have a total capacity of 980MW and will be able to meet the power supply needs of around 1.3 million costumers.
The company’s consortium partners are French companies Areva, Technip, Eole-Res, and Neoen Marine.
