The conditional commitment, awarded through USDA’s 9003 Biorefinery Assistance Program, enables the financing and construction of ZeaChem’s first commercial-scale cellulosic biorefinery located at the Port of Morrow in Boardman, Oregon.
The plant will produce bio-based fuels and chemicals from woody biomass and agricultural residues with the highest yield, lowest capital cost, and lowest carbon footprint in the industry.
Development of the first commercial biorefinery is already underway, and the facility is expected to have capacity of 25 million or more gallons-per-year.
ZeaChem has agreements for 100% of the facility’s woody biomass feedstock from the nearby GreenWood Tree Farm Fund, managed by GreenWood Resources, as well as from local agricultural residue processors.
ZeaChem is a developer of biorefineries for the conversion of renewable biomass into sustainable fuels and chemicals.
