The order requires Vestas to provide 28 units of the V90-2MW platform for the Castellaneta wind farm.

The contract also includes installations of the turbines, a VestasOnline Business SCADA system, as well as a 12-year service and maintenance Active Output Management 4000 agreement.

Vestas is expected to commence delivery of the first turbines during the second quarter of this year.

Commercial operations on the project will commence before the end of this year.

The Castellaneta wind power plant will produce approx 162,000MWh per year, which is enough electricity to cover the residential electricity consumption of more than 143,000 people in Italy.

It also corresponds to an annual saving of 63,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
