The project will modernize the Hillfoot Waste Water Pumping Station, a key part of Scottish Water’s waste water infrastructure in the area.

The investment will allow Scottish Water to comply with ministerial directives.

The project will also improve the water quality in the Manse Burn and reduce the chance of spillage from the low-lying inlet network.

Contractors Ross-shire Engineering, working for Scottish Water, are expected to complete the project in about four months.

The work will include the replacement of pumps at the pumping station, which is located on land between Burnmouth Place and Hillfoot Railway Station, the installation of a new screen and of a replacement outfall to the river.
