The construction-ready projects Pumpjack and Wildwood Solar Power, which are situated in Kern County near Bakersfield, represent Duke’s third and fourth utility-scale solar power projects in the California state.
The company will own and operate more than 65MW of solar power in California, once the projects are complete, noted Duke.
The solar energy generated from the two projects will be sold to the Southern California Edison, under the 20-year power purchase agreements.
Duke Energy Renewables president Greg Wolf said the acquisition of Pumpjack and Wildwood will more than double firm’s solar power capacity in California.
"We’re pleased to provide an increasing supply of affordable, clean energy to the nation’s number one solar market," Wolf added.
Duke Energy built 21MW Highlander solar power project in Twentynine Palms and acquired the 4.5MW Sunset Reservoir project in San Francisco, in 2013.
