Work on the project commenced after securing the construction loan, which will convert to long-term operational debt.
In addition to creating jobs in the region, K2 Wind is sourcing Ontario-made products, including 140 wind turbine towers from Windsor and blades manufactured in Tillsonburg.
The 270MW project is scheduled to enter operations in the second half of 2015, with a capacity to produce clean power for around 100,000 Ontario homes each year.
Samsung C&T senior vice president K.J. Kim said the K2 Wind project will create thousands of high-skilled jobs and millions of dollars in tax revenues and community benefits that will benefit real people in the community.
"Samsung is proud to be working with the community and our partners on the construction of this project," added Kim.
