The project is being funded in part by the company’s Blue Sky program.
With 9,000 panels installed, the solar farm will generate around 2MW of power. Its capacity would be later expanded to 5MW.
Rocky Mountain will decide the project location later this year once studies are complete.
Subject to the Utah Public Service Commission’s approval, the project is expected to enter operations in June 2016.
Rocky Mountain Power president Richard Walje said the company is committed to provide a bright energy future to customers by bringing them even more renewable energy choices.
"This is the first utility-sized solar project to be funded in part by Blue Sky customers and we plan to do more," Walje added.
