The sale is part of Veolia’s strategy that was revealed in 2011 to reduce debt and refocus on areas where it can bring better value to clients and stakeholders.
Marius Pedersen provides solid waste management services in Denmark, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The company, which specializes in treatment for all types of waste and municipal collection services, has developed its own technologies for waste transport, treatment and recycling.
Veolia originally acquired its majority stake in Marius Pedersen in 2001 while the remaining 35% of the company is already owned by the Marius Pedersen Foundation.
The transaction is anticipated to be completed in the coming weeks, subject to regulatory approvals.
Marius Pedersen Foundation CEO Christian Moeller said, "Marius Pedersen Group continues its activities in Denmark, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and I look forward to that we get a 100% ownership and focus on the development of the Group."
Marius Pedersen Foundation, which has subsidiaries in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, employs about1,000 people in Denmark and over 3000 people abroad.
