An agreement in this regard has been signed during the opening ceremony of the China-Canada Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference, which intends to strengthen the socio-cultural and economic ties between China and Canada.
British Columbia Premier Christy Clark said: "One of the key components of our trade missions and ongoing relationship with our sister province of Guangdong is promoting cooperation between clean technology companies, like SkyPower in Canada and BYD in China
"It creates opportunity on both sides of the Pacific, and encourages the innovative use of clean technologies to support the transition to a lower carbon economy, and a cleaner environment for us all."
The collaboration will leverage SkyPower’s experience in utility-scale solar projects and its proprietary development platform to develop clean energy solutions along with BYD’s battery storage technology for the proposed photovoltaic (PV) parks.
SkyPower commercial strategy and development chief commercial officer Charles Cohen said: "SkyPower, an industry leader in the development of large-scale solar energy projects, is excited to work with BYD, a global leader in battery technology, to bring together a highly-competitive bid for low-carbon, clean technology solutions.
The Indian government aims to have 175GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2022. This includes 100GW of installed solar capacity.
India plans to float tenders for the development of 750MW of solar capacity in the state of Madhya Pradesh, reported The Hindu.
