The cost of the system improvements, which replace water main dating back to 1906, is nearly $1.3m.
Contractors recently began replacing four- and six-inch cast-iron water main with new eight-inch ductile iron pipe in the following areas:
In Plymouth, Parrish Street, Durbin Street, Franklin Street, West Main Street. In Hanover Township, Lewis Street. In Kingston, John Street. In West Wyoming, Evergreen Street. In Wilkes-Barre, Gardner Avenue.
Crews will work weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction. The company expects to complete the water main installation, including transfer of all customer services, final restoration, and paving by late summer.
During construction, customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure.
