Under the contract which is worth €400m, Veolia will be responsible for the service and maintenance operations of the plant for the next 12 years.
From this December, Veolia will be working along with SIAAP in preparing for operational start-up, which is due in next April.
Through a single-purpose semipublic company (SEMOP), SIAAP and Veolia will handle the day-to-day operation of the wastewater treatment plant.
Veolia Water France CEO Frédéric Van Heems said: “With SIAAP, we are going to invent the wastewater treatment service of the future: a service based on excellence, in the forefront of innovation, and delivering remarkable performance on the technical, economic and social levels, thereby emphasizing SIAAP’s leadership in the wastewater treatment business.”
Veolia claims that the Valenton plant can generate as much sustainable energy as it can consume. With digital, smart and connected tools, the plant will see the geolocation deployment for 100% of its facilities to assist in operations, maintenance and scheduled works, and training.
A hypervision system will offer SIAAP with real-time tracking of the site’s key performance indicators (KPIs).
Employing over 163,000 people worldwide, Veolia designs and provides water, waste and energy management solutions.
In 2016, the company supplied 100 million people with drinking water and 61 million people with wastewater service. Besides, it produced 54 million megawatt hours of energy and converted 30 million metric tonnes of waste into new materials and energy.
