The Puertollano power plant, which is under construction, is expected to have 50MW of power generating capacity and will require an investment of around E200 million.
The contract provides for the pre-assembly and assembly of pipes and equipment corresponding to the auxiliary and secondary systems, such as drainage, cooling systems, steam generation or gas and water supply. Works have already begun and are expected to be completed in eight months.
Babcock Montajes has previously carried out various works for the Iberdrola Group, which includes the assembly of the waste heat boilers and chimneys in the combined cycle power plants at Arcos de la Frontera, Escombreras and Castellon, all in Spain.
The power plant at Puertollano, the opening of which is expected at the end of 2008, will have an estimated annual production of 115 million kWh. The installation, which will possess a solar catchment area of around 290,000sqm, will have 352 parabolic troughs, equipped with some 120,000 parabolic mirrors and 13,000 absorber pipes.
