<p>The firm's overall sales for the quarter grew by 26% to E5.27 billion on the back of rising wholesale electricity prices. Endesa said it booked E171 million from asset sales, including that of a 5% share of the telecoms firm Auna.<br /><br />The strong results may help bolster the company's efforts to fight off two rival takeover bids – one from Spanish rival Gas Natural, the other from German giant E.ON.</p>
