The order has been placed on the company by HMEL, a joint venture of Hindustan Petrochemicals (HPCL) and Mittal Energy. The 153MW gas turbine-based combined cycle power plant will meet the power and process steam requirement of the refinery and is slated for commissioning in a 30-month schedule.
Bharat Heavy Electricals’s (BHEL) scope of work in the project envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the captive power plant, in addition to complete civil works.
The equipment for the project will be supplied by BHEL’s Indian plants at Hyderabad, Trichy, Ranipet, Bhopal, Jhansi and its electronics division in Bangalore, India. Civil works and erection and commissioning of the captive power plant will be carried out by the company’s Power Sector Northern Region unit.
