The company’s adjusted net income, which excludes the effects of asset sales and certain other items, was $44 million or $0.19 per share in the second quarter of 2008, compared to the adjusted net income of $18 million or $0.08 per share in the second quarter of 2007.

For the first six months of 2008, CMS Energy has reported net income of $149 million or $0.62 per share, compared to a net loss of $182 million or $0.82 per share for the first half of 2007.

On an adjusted basis, the company has reported net income of $147 million or $0.62 per share for the first half of 2008, compared to net income of $110 million or $0.50 per share for the first six months of 2007.
