The central Canterbury electricity distribution network company has partnered with Meridian Energy, Energy Mad and the Electricity Commission to offer a range of energy-efficient Ecobulbs to households at subsidized prices.
Three types of Ecobulbs have been subsidized for the program – 15W spiral (replaces 60W or 75W incandescent), 13W enclosed (replaces 40W or 60W incandescent) and the 15W mini downlight (replaces 50W halogen fixture and bulb).
The subsidized Ecobulbs can be purchased from participating Pak’nSave, New World and Four Square supermarkets and Shell outlets, said Orion. Mercury Energy customers in Auckland and FlyBuys customers throughout New Zealand have also received vouchers as part of the promotion; however, vouchers are not needed to purchase the subsidized bulbs at participating outlets, added Orion.
The 13W enclosed and 15W mini downlight Ecobulbs are new Energy Mad products which were released into the New Zealand market at the launch of the government’s 2008 Efficient Lighting Project on September 2, 2008.
