Mr Crane will retain his role as COO of Exelon Generation. He became Exelon’s chief nuclear officer in 2004. For the past year, he has also been the senior operational executive for Exelon Generation, which includes 18,000MW of nuclear generation and 8,000MW of natural gas, coal, hydroelectric and alternative energy in five states.

John Rowe, chairman and CEO of Exelon, said: Chris has rightly earned a great deal of the credit for the continuing excellent performance of our nuclear and other generating assets that has helped make Exelon so successful. Chris will be leading a corporate wide effort to reduce our costs as well as working closely with Ian McLean and me on acquisition and development opportunities.
