The contract will commence after the rig’s current drilling campaign in Libya which is completed in late 2009.
Before starting the mobilization, the Songa Saturn drillship will receive the long planned upgrade to increase water depth capacity from 3,300ft to 3,800ft. This work is likely to be carried out in Malta immediately after the ongoing campaign in Libya.
The contract with China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Africa has an estimated value of $30 million inclusive of mobilization. The contract has demobilization alternatives for both West Africa and Malta.
