Under the contract, signed with Mexican company Avanzia Instalaciones, Siemens will supply one SGT6-8000H gas turbine, one SST-800 steam turbine, one SGen6-100A generator, and one SGen6-2000H generator.
Located at Tamaulipas, northeastern Mexico, the project is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2018.
Being built for Grupo Alfa subsidiary Alpek, the power plant will also provide process steam.

"Furthermore, it's not only the largest private cogeneration project for Siemens in Mexico, but also the first order for an SST-800 industrial steam turbine from the country. Therefore, this is a breakthrough success for us in the changing Mexican energy market."
Siemens will manufacture the gas turbine and the SGen6-2000H generator at its production facility in Charlotte, North Carolina while the steam turbine will be manufactured in Goerlitz, Germany.
Additionally, the SGen6-100A generator will be manufactured in Erfurt, Germany.
The contract scope also includes supply of four gas-insulated switchgear units including three with a voltage level of 230kV and one with a voltage level of 115kV.
Power and process steam generated by the plant will be used by Alpek for its industrial production and feed excess electricity into the Mexican grid.
