The multiyear deal also includes operation and maintenance services as well as GE’s advanced digital industrial solutions.
GE had earlier signed contracts to provide the plant with eight units of its advanced 9FA gas turbines and four units of its C7 steam turbines.
The project is being developed in two phases, with each phase delivering 1.5GW of power.
It will deliver enough energy to power more than 600,000 households.
Under the services agreement, GE will supply its digital industrial solutions to the power sector in Iraq for the first time. These will include Predix and Asset Performance Management (APM) software applications. These applications will take in data to monitor, analyze, enhance and predict equipment health.
Apart from this APM can also detect anomalies before they can strike and alert officials about possible outages. This feature will improve power plant reliability and can optimise just-in-time maintenance and reduces plant down time.
