These supplies will help the country to increase exploitation of installed capacity to over 55% from 45% at present. India targets to achieve 70% capacity utilization by next year end.
Kakodkar reported that presenly, the Department of Atomic Energy is looking for sites for setting up new nuclear plants following larger and larger availability of uranium.
Previously, it made no sense to construct new plants as uranium availability was in sufficient.
