GE Power has secured $800m of new orders across the Asia Pacific region.
The orders include the first heat recovery steam generator technology project after GE’s acquisition of Korea’s Doosan Engineering & Construction’s HRSG business in August this year.
The $140m order, from Korea Midland Power Company (KOMIPO), includes a new 250MW combined cycle power facility.
It will feature two of GE’s 6F.03 gas turbines and a full-suite of equipment, controls and maintenance parts.
The other orders are for a stator rewind project at a natural gas-fired cogeneration plant in Chonburi province in Thailand, and 17 emergency diesel generator (EDG) packages plus five transportable switch rooms for Malaysia’s Petronas group.
Each EDG package will feature one of GE’s 616 diesel engines delivered by GE’s Distributed Power business.
The equipment will provide continuous backup power for Petronas’ Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) refinery project in Johor.
The complex is expected to boost the energy output in the region with 300,000 barrels of oil and the petrochemical plants will produce about 7.7 million metric tons of chemical products per year.
GE Power Water and Distributed Power president and CEO Heiner Markhoff said: “This is an important project for us and for our customer. It not only marks the largest 616 diesel order in Malaysia for GE, but it also is the first in the country.
