Till now, 17 wells have been drilled at the block. Seven exploration wells, the SE-2, SE-3, SE-4, SE-8 and SE-9, SE-10, SE-11 were drilled in Part-A of the block and seven exploration wells, the M-1, M-4, M-2, M-5, M-6, M-3 and M-7 were drilled in Part-B. Two wells, the M-4 and M-2 have been abandoned.

In 2008, GSPC got a one-year extension for completing the drilling programme under the first phase. The onshore block covers an area of 285 square kilometers (sq km). It is divided into two parts, Part A (Sanand) 132 sq km and Part B (Miroli) 153 sq km.

The testing for hydrocarbon prospect recently culminated in the M-7 and SE-8 wells, while another well, M-3, has been identified for testing.

The consortium has announced five discoveries so far in the block: the M-1, M-6, SE-2, SE-4 and SE-8.

GSPC (the operator) holds 60% majority participating interest in the NELP-IV block while Jubilant Oil & Gas Private Ltd. has 30% interest and GeoGlobal Resources Inc. owns 10%.
