The company intends to explore nearly 110,000 tons per year of uranium ore at the site over 10 years.
A 30-day appeal period will follow.
The company has an approved mine plan and has posted a reclamation bond, so it would be allowed to resume operations, according to a spokesman for the U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s Arizona Strip office.
Denison Mines would be the first company to do so, some 20 years after previous operations in the area ceased.
