Already, AUD2 billion worth of contracts have been awarded, including to Australian companies, for site construction on Barrow Island, a construction village to house 3,300 workers, transportation and logistics services.
“A further AUD10 billion in contracts will be rolled out over the next three months,” he told parliament, which includes this week’s AUD2.7 billion contract for engineering and construction work to the Kellogg joint venture.
The Gorgon project is operated by Chevron (50%) in joint venture with Australian subsidiaries of Exxon Mobil Corporation (25%) and Royal Dutch Shell Plc (25%).
The companies are still aiming to deliver first gas by 2014.
