The CCS technology will help the power projects mitigate carbon dioxide emissions and bury it underground. As per the proposal of the commission, five of the projects get EUR180m each and the other one gets EUR100m.
As reported, the five projects include a scheme in Compostilla, Spain, run by Endesa; Vattenfall Group’s plant in Jaenschwalde, Germany; UK-based Powerfuel’s facility in Hatfield, Yorkshire; E.ON’s scheme in Maasvlakte in the Netherlands, and one in Poland, run by Polska Grupa Energetyczna.
The commission has also recommended that an Enel scheme in Italy should get EUR100m. However, a French project has been dropped since it wasn’t sufficiently developed.
