Woodfibre LNG has awarded two contracts for front end engineering and design (FEED) of the $1.6bn LNG project planned to be built in District of Squamish near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Located around 7km south-west of Squamish, the Woodfibre LNG project will feature a gas processing and liquefaction facility to produce about 2.1 million tons of LNG per year.
The project is designed to have an annual processing and exporting capacity between 1.5 and 2.1million tons of LNG.
The contracts for the LNG project have been awarded to KBR and JGC America.
In addition to providing FEED services, the two firms will produce turn-key proposals for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract.
For KBR, the order continues the second phase of the contract, which was awarded to the firm in March 2016 to perform multi-phased FEED services for the Woodfibre LNG export facility.
Woodfibre LNG corporate affairs vice president and country manager Byng Giraud said: “By awarding the FEED contracts, we are also sending our strongest signal yet that the Woodfibre LNG Project is close to becoming a reality.”
Woodfibre LNG said that EPC contract will be awarded later based on the companies’ proposals, which are expected to be submitted at the end of the parallel FEEDs.
