The joint research plans come at a time when the Indian government is to launch the national solar mission in November 2009. The mission targets 20,000 MW solar power and 1 million green jobs by 2020.

“The conference discussed how the high cost for using solar energy could be reduced and how the energy could be effectively provided to as many of households as possible to reduce consumption of conventional electricity. The experts will jointly decide on the areas in which research will be conducted,” West Bengal Green Energy Development Corporation Managing Director SP Gon Choudhuri said.
