“That pipeline will go along Sava river to Banja Luka and will be enough to meet the needs of Serb Republic,” said Dusan Bajatovic, Srbijagas’ chief executive. “We will offer to build one arm of pipeline to Sarajevo to supply the Muslim-Croat federation.”
This section of South Stream pipeline would allow Serbia, through which all gas enters Bosnia, to expand its gas supplies and avoid shortages.
Gazprom-led South Stream project has been designed to bypass Ukraine to carry Russian gas under the Black Sea to Bulgaria and onwards to Serbia and Europe.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is considering providing a loan of up to EUR150 million in several tranches to Srbijagas.
“Out of that money, EUR50 million will be used for gas supplies, EUR50 million for construction of the gas storage facility and EUR50 million for our projects in Republika Srpska,” Bajatovic said.
