Work has commenced on site and is part of GBP1 billion invested in the project, owned and commissioned by RWE npower, producing 2,000MW and supplying around 3 million homes.
This award follows on from the relationship developed between Alstom and Sisk on a power station project in Aghada, Ireland, Sisk said.
The power plant is being built on the site of the former oil-fired Pembroke power station that ceased operation in 1997, finally being demolished between 2000 and 2003. The original planning application was submitted by RWE npower in 2005 and with Section 36 consent granted for construction to start in 2009.
Nigel Warnes, director of Major Projects at Sisk, said: “This is a significant project, and it is fantastic for Sisk to be a part. We have undertaken some very complex civil engineering projects across Europe including power, pharmaceutical and major infrastructure; this experience and specialist expertise will underpin the successful delivery of the Pembroke Power Station.”
