The company has inked a memorandum of understanding with the government of Madhya Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh Power Trading Company for building the power plant.
Under the deal, the state will provide 2500 acres of land and 125 cusecs of water from the Narmada river.
Sushilkumar Shinde, union minister of power, India, said: “The government is committed to the capacity addition programme in the power sector and shall provide all the necessary clearances for fast implementation of the project.”
According to NTPC, the power project would have four units of 660MW each with superficial technology.
With a current generating capacity of 30,644MW through 26 power stations including joint ventures, NTPC has embarked on plans to become a 75,000MW company by 2017.
