As reported, the companies plan to commission a 1,600MW thermal power station in Khandwa district of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh (MP) under a joint venture.
Under the plan, two units of 800MW each are expected to come up in Khandwa at a total cost of INR80 billion. It is likely to take five years to complete the thermal power station.
According to a senior MPPGCL official, Khandwa has sufficient water for generating electricity as River Narmada passes from there.
MPPGCL, a wholly owned company of MP Government, is engaged in generation of electricity in the state. It is a successor entity of Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board (MPSEB).
