The federal loan guarantee will support the construction of two module manufacturing facilities in Portland, Oregon, and capacity expansion of an existing site in San Jose, California.
At full capacity, these facilities are expected to produce thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules with a total generating capacity of over 400MW per year.
SoloPower produces copper, indium, gallium and (di) selenide -based PV cells, which are then packaged into flexible solar modules.
According to the company, construction of the first facility in Portland is anticipated to begin next month.
