The two companies are planning to make this move amid the German government’s decision to phase out nuclear power and have hired consultants to prepare the divestment.
RWE and E.ON own one third of the stake in Urenco which is also owned by the UK and Dutch governments, which must approve the sale, reports Reuters.
The UK government is also considering to sell its holding, while the Dutch government wants to retain its stake and may try to stop the transaction.
