The expansion will increase the facility’s ethylene production capacity by 600 million pounds per year to a new annual capacity of 1.95 billion pounds.
The company said that the expected capital spending on the expansion project is a range of $350m to $400m in 2012-13.
Williams midstream business president Rory Miller said this expansion will serve petrochemical companies by adding 600 million pounds per year of new ethylene supply to the market.
Williams holds a 83.3% interest in the Geismar facility and operates the plant.
The plant is a light-end natural gas liquid cracker with current volumes of 37,000 barrels per day (bpd) of ethane and 3,000bpd of propane and annual production of 1.35 billion pounds of ethylene.
The facility also produces propylene, butadiene and debutanized aromatic concentrate.
