The Capenhurst site operates three plants, the largest of which is E23 which accomodates more than 80% of the site’s enrichment capacity.
Atkins will conduct design and engineering studies to support the safety case, detail design and installation.
It also includes the design of process services, a cooling water system, electrical and control systems and building a plant design 3D model.
Atkins managing director of nuclear Chris Ball said the company’s technical expertise in the design of new nuclear facilities and experience of managing safety for major nuclear infrastructure will enable to deliver the best facility for Urenco.
