The 400km long ADCOP pipeline transports up to 1.5 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil from the main producing areas in Abu Dhabi to the oil terminal at Fujairah, the base for the project.
Under the contract, Aggreko will provide a 10MW loadbank test package to the main incoming switchgear – a solution that was devised specifically for this project.
The load testing will ensure that the equipment is working effectively, to avoid the risk of any damage or power failures once the whole system is permanently up and running.
Aggreko Middle East managing director Phil Burns said that though the initial discussion with CPECC was for loadbank testing at 11kV, the package was designed at 33kV in order to ensure optimum results were achieved.
