The power project, which GE calls FlexEfficiency 50 plant, will be equipped with the company’s new natural-gas turbine technology and will be constructed at an existing EDF power plant site.
The facility will commence operation in late 2015 and generate enough electricity to power about 600,000 French households.
GE said that the project will achieve greater than 61% efficiency at base load, which will conserve natural gas and reduce production of greenhouse gases.
GE Energy regional president and CEO Ricardo Cordoba said the FlexEfficiency 50 plant will allow the companies to improve supply side energy efficiency and reach emission reduction challenges.
