The company commenced construction work on the 150MW photovoltaic solar installation in Arlington in June 2011, with the project completion expected in early 2013.
The electricity generated from the 900-acre facility will be purchased by Pacific Gas and Electric Co under a 20-year contract.
The power project will include more than 800,000 panels and is expected to generate enough electricity for about 50,000 homes at full build-out.
Sempra Generation said Mesquite Solar 1 is the first phase of its Mesquite Solar Complex, a facility that could grow to 700MW.
