The project still subject to the approval of the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), will serve the
needs of wind projects in the area.
NGCP said the Northern Luzon project aims to loop the north-western and north-eastern 230kV backbone in Luzon in order to provide adequate transmission facilities.
In addition, it will cater the huge wind power generation potential and improve the overall reliability of the transmission network, reports zambotimes.com.
"The identified location of the substations to be developed along the 230kV loop, which will serve as the connection point for the wind power plants, are the closest sites to the various wind power plants in the area" NGCP added.
The 230kV San Esteban-Laoag line and the 23kV Tuguegarao-Magapit line projects, already approved by the ERC are directly associated with the Northern Luzon transmission project.
