The well is now drilling ahead towards the target interval of about 1,800m to 1,900m depth and is expected to reach total depth around the end of this month.

Ntorya-1 is designed to test the high quality Basal Tertiary and Upper Cretaceous sands previously encountered in the Likonde-1 well, 14km to the north.

Solo Oil, a partner in the well, estimates that the Ntorya prospect has a probability of success of around 25%, with mean recoverable resource potential of 100 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Ndovu Resources operates the well with a 56.25% interest, while Tullow Tanzania and Solo Oil hold a 25% and a 18.75% interest, respectively.
