The projects will be installed on rooftops and as solar shade structures in parking lots and are expected to reduce the District’s electricity costs by $25m over the next 25 years.
SunPower regions president Howard Wenger said, "Scottsdale Unified School District can rely on its high efficiency SunPower solar systems to deliver guaranteed performance for the next 25 years or more."
All solar power systems are expected to be complete and operational before the end of September 2012.
The project was facilitated in part by the APS Renewable Energy Incentive Program and Qualified School Construction Bonds allowing the District to own the systems.
