KCA Deutag, Odfjell Drilling and Archer have secured the contracts to provide drilling operations, maintenance services and engineering support for the Gullfaks and Oseberg fields.
The scope of work entails drilling new wells, plugging old wells, workover and maintenance of drilling facilities on 18 of 20 fixed Statoil’s platforms on the NCS.
Statoil Technology Projects and Drilling business area executive vice president Margareth Øvrum said, "Efficient drilling and well services on existing fields are important to maintain production on the NCS and to deliver according to Statoil’s production forecast of 2.5 million barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2020."
The contract duration is four years including options for three two-year extensions that would bring the total duration of the contracts to ten years, with effect from October 2012.
KCA Deutag senior vice president for Platforms Rune Lorentzen said, "These awards recognise our efforts to deliver continuous improvement and value for Statoil. Our vision is to be the preferred drilling contractor through measurable performance improvement and providing safe effective and trouble-free operations."
KCA Deutag’s total revenue for the initial contract period is estimated to be $700m which does not including possible options.
