The Poseidon, which is currently on a long-term contract with the operator, is expected to arrive on the site in July 2012, following which the drilling operations will commence shortly thereafter.

The Nimrod prospect, located in the Orange Basin in Southern Block 2714A, is held by Chariot with a 25% stake.

Chariot Oil & Gas CEO Paul Welch said, "Nimrod is one of the biggest prospects due to be drilled worldwide this year and we look forward to being able to update the market with further news on this hugely significant well in due course."

The drilling location is located in 360m of water with an estimated total drilling depth of 3,100m true vertical depth subsea.

Chariot Oil & Gas plans to spud the Kabeljou well in about two months.

The current well forms the second well to be drilled in the prospect under Chariot’s four to five well exploration program.

Concurrently, Chariot Oil & Gas noted it is processing the 3D seismic data acquired from the recent survey carried out in the Central Blocks where preliminary results confirmed good quality data.
