The 5,400 km2 PSC prospect lies over the Bintuni Basin, a potential gas province comprising the Tangguh gas field and liquefied natural gas facilities.
The award raises KrisEnergy’s working interests in Indonesia to seven blocks, six of which it operates.
KrisEnergy Exploration & Production Director Chris Gibson-Robinson said, "West Papua is an area where our team has extensive experience and we are delighted to have been awarded this relatively unexplored acreage."
The company’s Indonesian portfolio includes the non-operated gas-condensate producing Glagah-Kambuna technical assistance contract, gas discoveries awaiting appraisal in the Kutai, Bulu and East Muriah PSCs, and exploration opportunities in the East Seruway, Tanjung Aru and Udan Emas blocks.
