PGE Gornictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna awarded a contract for the modernization of unit 3 of the 1492MW Opole Power Plant located in Brzezie, Opole Province.
The deal includes an overhaul of the steam turbine and the delivery of an electrohydraulic control system aimed at extending the turbine’s lifetime. Commissioning is scheduled for end 2012.
Another contract from Zespol Elektrocieplowni Wroclawskich Kogeneracja entails supply of a new generator rotor for unit 2 of their 110MW Czechnica’s Heat Power Plant, located in the Lower Silesia Province.
As per this deal, Alstom will upgrade the bearings as well as supervise erection and commissioning which is scheduled for end 2013.
Alstom said the modernisation work eliminates the need for pre-heating of the rotor before starting the generator, allowing quicker delivery of electrical power to the grid.
The last contract from KGHM Polska Miedz covers the installation of an electrostatic precipitator (ESP) for the Glogow Copper Smelter, also located in the Lower Silesia Province in the western part of the country.
The ESP will remove the particulate matters from the complex process gases. The separated acid gases will be set out in an absorber located downstream the ESP and converted into sulphuric acid.
The third contract covers delivery, erection and commissioning of the ESP by mid 2014.
